WOW!, the sixth edition of the Civiltà del Bere competition rewards the wines of Tenute Lunelli
Tenute Lunelli’s wines distinguished themselves at the sixth edition of WOW!, the prestigious competition dedicated to Italian wine, promoted by the renowned magazine Civiltà del Bere, which highlights the quality and typicity of Italian wines, using a jury composed of authoritative Italian wine critics chaired by Alessandro Torcoli.
The jury awarded two Tenute Lunelli labels the prize for the best wine of their appellation: the 2016 Carapace Lunga Attesa, from the Umbrian Castelbuono estate, distinguished itself as the Best Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG by earning the 2023 WOW! gold medal with a typicity score of 9/10. Described as a wine with a “deep nose and textural, polished and powerful palate,” it succeeded in representing the uniqueness of Sagrantino precisely by elegantly emphasizing the power of this grape variety, through long aging, at least 7 years, and in three different materials – steel, truncated conical wooden vats and terracotta. The 2018 Auritea Costa Toscana IGT from Tenute Lunelli Podernovo, on the other hand, was recognized as the Best Costa Toscana IGT, and defined as a “very elegant, sleek wine with beautiful finesse and drinkability.”
These awards testify once again to Tenute Lunelli’s constant commitment to producing extraordinary and authentic wines that interpret the terroir by enhancing the unique characteristics of each grape variety that are specific to each appellation, while keeping unchanged the unmistakable style that binds all the labels of Tenute Lunelli, Tenuta Margon in Trentino, Tenuta Podernovo in Tuscany and Tenuta Castelbuono in Umbria.
