The Buying Guide of Wine Enthusiast rewards the wines of Tenute Lunelli - Tenuta Castelbuono

More great success for Tenute Lunelli, this time in The Buying Guide of Wine Enthusiast, a prestigious international classification that every year selects, from more than 25,000 wines, the unmissable labels of the best wine areas in the world. Danielle Callegari, responsible for tasting wines from Central and Southern Italy, gave excellent scores -above 90/100- to all the creations of Tenuta Castelbuono, the Umbrian winery of the Lunelli family.

The Ziggurat Montefalco Rosso 2021 was rated as excellent, reaching 93/100 and receiving the title of ‘Best Buy’, an award dedicated to wines of the highest quality in relation to market price. Described as “structured and assertive, but with vibrant acidity and minerality”, Ziggurat confirms itself as an expression of the perfect balance between the power and character of Sagrantino and the elegance and authenticity of Sangiovese.
There was also great success for the Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino 2018, which, with its 94/100, was titled “Superb”.

The Lampante Riserva Montefalco Rosso 2020, meanwhile, obtained the excellent score of 92/100, while the Carapace Lunga Attesa Montefalco Sagrantino 2016 reached 90/100, confirming it as one of the company’s top wines. Indeed, it has already been highlighted as the “best Sagrantino” according to the critic Daniele Cernilli, author of the Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia 2024.

Tenute Lunelli – Tenuta Castelbuono thus testifies to the extraordinary vocation of the Bevagna and Montefalco area in Umbria, where the Montefalco Rosso appellation was born, spread thanks to decades of constant commitment to achieving levels of excellence in an area that fully expresses all the best characteristics of the ancient and powerful Umbrian land, which is also perfectly translated into sculpture in the surprising cellar designed by Maestro Arnaldo Pomodoro, The Carapace.
