L’Auritea from Tenute Lunelli once again awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso

Great success for Tenute Lunelli, in particular for Tenuta Podernovo, at the Guida Vini d’Italia 2024 by Gambero Rosso, one of the most authoritative publications in Italy; the 2018 Auritea, Costa Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc, once again won the coveted Tre Bicchieri.

Having unveiled the results on the Gambero Rosso website just a few days ago, the official award ceremony will take place on October 15th in Rome, at the Brancaccio Theatre, to be followed by a tasting of all the award-winning wines at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

Auritea was presented to the market in 2018 with the 2015 vintage and immediately received important recognition, including from the Guida Vini itself, which had already awarded it the prestigious Tre Bicchieri.

A pure Cabernet Franc, Auritea owes its name to Arca Aurita, one of the many fossil shells that characterise the soils of the Podernovo Estate and that make the wines produced from these vineyards unique.
Specifically, Auritea is made from Cabernet Franc grapes only from the ‘Olmo’ vineyard, located on the eastern side of the Podernovo hillside, allowing the grapes to ripen in a balanced manner and develop elegant aromas and tannins. In addition to its pleasant minerality, which is certainly the distinctive tone of Auritea, this wine captivates with character and intensity, while maintaining great balance. Ageing in French oak barrels ensures soft, well-integrated tannins with a fine texture, heralding a suitability for long ageing.

“Tenuta Podernovo has once again this year won the coveted Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso, an important recognition that is the result of the great work that is done daily in the vineyard and in the cellar, and of Tenute Lunelli’s constant commitment to producing excellent wines of great structure and elegance, which are able to tell the story of the territory where they are produced, while fully respecting the environment thanks to organic farming practices,” commented Alessandro Lunelli, Managing Director of Tenute Lunelli.
