(Italiano) Il Montefalco Sagrantino Carapace 2019 conquista i Tre Cavatappi della Guida Untold
The Montefalco Sagrantino Tenute Lunelli – Carapace 2019 bewitched the commission of the ‘Untold – What has not yet been said about wine’ guide, which awarded it its most prestigious recognition, the “Tre Cavatappi” or Three Corkscrews.
This first edition of the wine guide, edited by the ‘Decanto’ blog, is entirely dedicated to the best Italian DOC and DOCG wines and aims to tell the story of wine from a new perspective: the bottles were compared blindly, subdivided by type, by a jury from all over Italy composed of sommeliers, journalists and oenologists, with the aim of identifying the most representative bottles of the different terroirs.
Carapace is, without a doubt, an expression of the great character of Sagrantino from the Montefalco area, a wine as powerful as the land where it is born, which the team of oenologists at Tenute Lunelli have succeeded in making balanced and elegant, thanks to the important work carried out both in the vineyard, where the grapes are meticulously selected, and in the cellar, where it is aged for at least 24 months in large casks and a minimum of another 12 in the bottle. It is a Sagrantino that becomes pure harmony, with its complex yet clean aromas on the nose, powerful yet persuasive on the palate, reaching an innate persistence on the elegant finish.
The official result of the award was unveiled on March 24th at the Paestum Wine Fest, during the Untold Tre Cavatappi Preview, where critics and visitors had the chance to taste an exclusive selection of the best wines from each region.
The Tre Cavatappi award for the Montefalco Sagrantino Carapace 2019 is an important recognition not only for Tenute Lunelli – Castelbuono, but also for the entire territory of Montefalco, which once again confirms this land’s vocation for making excellent wines.
