“Falstaff” Magazine’s 2020 Umbria Trophy: excellent scores for the wines of Tenuta Castelbuono

After the splendid rating obtained by the 2017 Auritea from Tenuta Podernovo in the tasting Falstaff devoted to Tuscany, it is now the turn of the wines from Tenuta Castelbuono, which have obtained excellent scores from the prestigious Austrian magazine’s jury for the 2020 Falstaff Umbria Trophy, the tasting devoted to wines from the Central Italian Region.

The highest score, 93/100, was given to the 2016 Lampante Montefalco Rosso Riserva, a wine of great structure and elegance, whose long maturation takes place in the heart of the Carapace. This was followed by 92 points for the 2015 Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino 2015, thanks to its rare finesse, elegance, and gentle style, and the 91 points obtained by the 2018 Ziggurat Montefalco Rosso.

These outstanding ratings confirmed once again the excellence Tenuta Castelbuono seeks in its fine red wines. Falstaff is the oldest and most prestigious wine magazine in Austria and it is also published elsewhere in the German-speaking world; each year it organises specific competitions focusing on different regions or types of wine, in which the products of the Lunelli Estates almost invariably take part.
