TENUTE LUNELLI PAYS TRIBUTE TO ARNALDO POMODORO WITH “CARAPACE CENTENARIO”
A special jeroboam edition of Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Maestro’s birth, creator of the sculpture-winery of the Gruppo Lunelli in Umbria
On the occasion of the centenary of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s birth, Tenute Lunelli presents “Carapace Centenario”, a special collector’s edition of only 100 three-liter bottles of Montefalco Sagrantino, produced in the sculpture-winery designed by the Maestro himself.
The initiative is part of the celebrations promoted by the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, which begin today, May 28, with the major exhibition “Arnaldo Pomodoro. Una Vita” at Gallerie d’Italia in Milan. It is on this occasion that the special bottle will be unveiled — a tribute to the Maestro, who passed away last year on the eve of his ninety-ninth birthday, and to his artistic vision.
The wine selected for this edition is Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2016, a pure expression of Umbria’s iconic grape variety and a perfect representation of the elegance and longevity that characterize Tenute Lunelli wines. The design recalls the distinctive elements of the winery where the wine is produced. The label is crafted in copper, the same material that covers the dome of Carapace, and reproduces the graphic symbol inspired by it, created by Arnaldo Pomodoro himself for the estate’s wines. The bottle also features the official logo of the centenary of the Maestro’s birth, while the elegant black wax seal emphasizes its exclusive and precious character.
With “Carapace Centenario”, Tenute Lunelli renews its dialogue with the world of art and its bond with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, under the banner of a shared vision born from the long-standing friendship between the Maestro and the Lunelli family — a vision that brings together beauty and excellence, creativity and the culture of the territory. A tribute to an extraordinary artist and to his legacy, which continues to live on through Carapace: a unique work in the world, born from the encounter between sculpture, architecture, and wine.
